StrangerThings.tv Episode 5

See all three Acts at StrangerThings.tv

Here’s the next episode of StrangerThings.tv I was able to do most of the production sound on this one, as well as ALL of the post audio. In addition to all that, I did the location scouting, some of the stunt coordination, and actually played a part.

This is our 2008 entry into the 48 Hour Film Project. We creted a very optimistic schedule before this one started, saying that we’d wrap shooting at 7pm on saturday and I would have had around 6 hours for audio. Well……..we wrapped shooting at 3:20am on Sunday, and I had about 2 hours to do audio. Kind of crazy, 2 hours to completely balance, noise reduce, affect and sweeten 8 minutes of video is not early enough time, but that’s how the 48 hour thing works. Two of my friends helped me crank out the soundtrack for this one and we also used a track from Nine Inch Nails new album “The Slip.” Below are the mp3s for our soundtrack. Overall, a fun time was had.

StrangerThings.tv Episode 4

See all three Acts at StrangerThings.tv

I have to say, this was one of the coolest projects I have worked on in my career so far. Divided into three acts, episode 4 was a fairly large undertaking. With heavy effects and a little over 30min total content, it’s just short of a full movie. And it’s all shot in HD, making it the prettiest damn SciFi series on the web. Check it out at te link above and expect to see more of this here. The ST.tv crew is a great group, and I’m looking forward to our next project together.

The Practical Solution to the Modern Day Everything

I managed to knock out all of the post production for this one in under two hours since we were on a pretty big time crunch. Worked with the group from Theater 7 Productions again. Aside from doing the post, I also helped with the soundtrack. The credits song is probably my favorite part of this movie.

For another exercise, I re-sweetened the trailer for Night Watch. Enjoy! Also, read the trilogy,Night Watch, Day Watch and Twilight Watch. I highly recommend them.

As an exercise, I re-sweetened the trailer for Apocalypto. I even custom did the music. Overall I’m pretty happy with it. Check it out.

Smashing Pumpkins ‘Tarantula’ Video

I got the chance to be a part of the Smashing Pumpkins new video for their son ‘Tarantula.’ The shoot was a lot of fun and I look forward to working with those guys again.

ThunderIronBoltenBlood

This song was originally made for “Standing Room Only.” Tony Bullard and I wrote it as a 59 second piece for the credits. But after the film went to a couple of viewings the crew decided it’d be cool to do a music video for the song. Tony and I worked nights for the next week in order to turn it into a 3 minute song. We later shot the video across four locations in one day.

Standing Room Only

This was a film made as an entry into the 48 Hour Film Project. This year I worked with the team from Theater 7 Productions. I did the Audio Post/Sound Design for it and I also co-wrote and recorded all of the music for the film. We won a total of 4 awards for our film including an audience award.

War of the Worlds

[audio:TonyAndJuan-WOW Broadcast.mp3]

This project started with a contest being run by Gizmodo.com. The contest, seen here, was to make a somewhat gadget related “war of the worlds” stlyed radio broadcast. Winner would receive a laser from WickedLasers.com that retailed at $369. I got Tony Bullard to assist me and we made the above broadcast. I play the role of Chuck McTylorson and also did all of the sound design for the project. I’m particularly proud of the Sound Design I did for this project. It won the contest and they sent us the laser. I have to say, I had a lot of fun with that laser.

Punking Barefoot

This song was originally written to be the demo music for Soapbox Studios. They decided it wasn’t for them and we ended up liscensing it to R & R Productions Worldwide for use in an television spot. I recorded and mixed the song as well as contributed some vocals for the middle. All music was performed by Tony Bullard.

Raqua Teen

[audio:RaquaTeen.mp3]

Tony and I had decided on our own to do a metal styled mix of the “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” theme song. After making a demo of the remix we managed to get it to Matt Mallairo, one of the producers of the show. He responded to us with, “What do I need to do to get this on the next DVD set.” Quite a surprise to us. From that point we asked our friend Michael Kohler over at Bluetube Productions to do the final mix of the song and assist us with some rerecording. Once finished Matt came to Bluetube to hear the final mix of the song. It is currently featured on the “Aqua Teen Hunger Force Volume 4 DVD Set.”
